About.

PADPro’s SELF-HELP ADVOCACY through RESPONSIVE PROGRAMMMING (S.H.A.R.P.) involves a combination of pro-active, reactive and interactive approaches by:
  • Eliminating occurrences of inappropriate behavior before antecedents occur.
  • Reducing occurrence by implementation of intervention plans and reinforcement.
  • Replacing behaviors with skills and transforming them into productive activities. Self-help programs focus on the need and interest of the individual to acquire responsibility to one’s self and develop skills to prepare towards independence.

PADPro believes that hands-on experiences benefit skill acquisition thus the use of volunteer jobs in the community. Activities are done through assessment of interests and preferences and structured schedules and integrated into the activity to ensure a high probability of success.  These activities enhance the individual’s quality of life and allows for opportunities to communicate and behave appropriately to work place norms and their natural environments.
PADPro firmly establishes that the inability to communicate needs is one of the primary causes of most maladaptive behaviors of individuals and that these behaviors may actually be their means of communication. PADPro’s teaching principles lie in the “CON ON THE C.O.B.” Program, or Concentrating on the Communication of Behavior.
